10 Questions with Bradley Markham

  • 22nd May 2019

With a great start to the year and several project wins under our belt, we hear from our director Bradley Markham who shares an insight into Bull and what customers can expect in 2019.

How is 2019 looking so far?

We’ve had a really strong start to the year. We’ve just introduced our Cygnus Wireless Alarm System to the construction industry in Singapore and we’re looking forward to growing our international presence further. Can you share some recent project wins?

We’ve recently won a project in Europe – the Niels Bohr Buildings in Copenhagen, Denmark which is the new home for the Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen.
We’ve installed over 140 alarm units across two sites. Despite the site being split in two by the main road, the Cygnus system has no problem communicating due to the systems’ intelligent meshing protocol.

Are there any exciting innovations being released this year?
We will be launching a really exciting innovation towards the second half of the year. We will be revealing more soon so keep checking our website for updates.

Do you think technology will play an even bigger part in wireless alarm systems this year?

Technology already plays such a big part in wireless alarm systems and how they operate. As time goes on, technology will become smarter which will ensure alarm systems become more powerful, intelligent and faster, thus providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for businesses.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the industry this year?
Smart technology presents a great opportunity for the industry, but we are yet to fully embrace it, and this is a challenge in itself.

How do you think these challenges can be overcome?

As an industry, we must start to understand the true benefits that smart technology could have on the future of the construction industry, and more importantly, workers’ safety. In doing so, we can ensure best practice on site and build a more efficient construction industry for the future.

What’s been your biggest achievement at Bull so far?

Our biggest achievement was growing past the £10M annual turnover mark back in 2017. Second to that is developing and launching our Cygnus Wireless Alarm System.

Any new team members?

We’ve recently welcomed Alastair Knight, our new Product Engineering Manager who is overseeing the development of our radio fire alarm systems. We’ve also welcomed Rory Wade, who is our Key Account Manager for customers in the Southwest and Midlands.

What is your hero product?

I’d have to say the Exclusion Zone Alarm. It’s a new feature as part of our wireless alarm range that has been designed specifically for construction sites to give warning of danger and prevent access into exclusion zones. It enhances site safety and ensures workers are protected around the clock.

What’s next for Bull?

Our ambition is to grow further overseas this year, strengthening our presence in Europe. Asia is also a new market for Bull and our goal is to develop relationships with distributors further to introduce the Cygnus alarm system and ensure future construction projects are protected.
